Forde Abbey
This historic building was founded by the Cistercians in 1140 and became one of the richest and most learned monasteries in the country. The church was demolished in the
dissolution, but in 1649 Sir Edmund Prideaux transformed the Abbey into a magnificent house. Of particular note are the splendid tapestries and ceilings from the 1650's and a crucifixion painting dated c1320. The 30 acres of world famous gardens include a walled working kitchen garden, ponds, cascades, rockery, bog gardenand the Centenary Fountain.
Lyme Regis
The Pearl of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. The resort, which has
played a significant role in national and world affairs down through the centuries, is blessed with its location in one of the most beautiful areas of the country.
Local Walks
The area around Willminton cottage has a large selection of walks in the scenic Blackdown Hills. Ideal for
exercising dog's and the whole of your family. There are also walks on the coastal footpath 30 minutes drive from the the cottage.

National Trust
In the area surronding Willmington cottage there are a number of national trust properties including Montacute House pictured right. And Barrington court below. Montacute is Renaissance manor house filled with historic treasures including art on loan from the National portrait gallery. Barrington is the perfect destination for the garden lover
with extensive walled gardens.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum
The Museum has the largest collection of Naval aircraft anywhere in Europe together with the first British built Concorde which you can go on-board and visit the cockpit.
The Museum's award winning Aircraft Carrier Experience is where the Museum meets theatre. You'll be 'transported' by helicopter to the replica flight deck of the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal. On board the Ark Royal you'll see fighter aircraft and two enormous projection screens showing a Phantom strike fighter and a Buccaneer fighter-bomber.
Outside, there is a children's adventure playground, a licensed restaurant and a shop, ample free parking and excellent disabled access.
